The off-season is where goalies are made

In-season is for competing. The schedule is too dense, the fatigue too high, and the stakes too immediate to rebuild mechanics or add real strength. Meaningful change happens between April and August.

A proper off-season has phases. Start with restoration — fix mobility restrictions and let the body recover from a long year of butterfly loads. Then build a strength base. Only after that should high-speed power and on-ice volume ramp up toward camp.

This is also the window for mechanical reconstruction. Dropping a bad habit mid-season costs games. Rebuilding a glove path or a post-integration pattern in July costs nothing but reps.

The goalies who jump levels every September are not lucky. They had a plan in May.
