What musculature has the largest impact on a goalies athletic success?

The first two seasons in the crease decide whether a young athlete stays in the position. The goal at this age is not technique — it is comfort, confidence and fun.

Gear should fit, not last three years. Oversized pads teach a young goaltender to fight their equipment and build habits that take seasons to unwind.

Keep the feedback simple. One cue per session. 'Stay on your feet longer' or 'watch it into your chest' is enough. Layering four corrections on an eight-year-old guarantees none of them stick.

Finally, protect the relationship with the position. Wins and losses are a team outcome; a young goaltender should never carry them alone.
